To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum.  It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

  • Children who are read to do better in school.
  • Reading aloud to a child raises his/her self-esteem and reading ability.
  • Keeping a diary helps a child become a better writer and reader.
  • When you watch television, do so as a family.  Discuss the storyline, characters, and why something happened or did not happen.  Point out cause and effect relationships and talk about the sequence of events.
  • Encourage your child to read to find out important consumer information.  Examples include the back of the cereal box, the soup can, directions on a household product.
  • Have your child read street signs, shopping lists, and menus to you.
