Many people, at one time or another may suffer from anxiety. Uncertainty about the future, shifting job situations, adjustments in family life can leave one grasping for direction and stressed out about what is to come. Diet and physical health can also contribute to feelings of anxiety. R.M. Barry wrote in his book, The Wellness Guide, “Recent studies have shown that anxiety disorders can also have a real physical basis. Experts believe that brain chemistry may malfunction so that some areas of the brain become hyperactive and release norepinephrine, which causes blood pressure to rise with rapid pulse and breathing – the classic symptoms of a panic attack.”
I have provided some healthy tips below which may assist you in bringing some order and a sense of calm throughout life’s circumstances. And perhaps, even making some small changes in lifestyle and diet can contribute to renewed optimism and trust for what tomorrow brings. What To Look ForAnxiety Triggers/Stressors such as: - Emotional trauma
- Side effects of recreational and some medicinal drugs that include: caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, cold and decongestant medications, tricyclic antidepressants, cocaine, amphetamines, diet pills, ADHD medication, and some thyroid medications, etc.
- Low blood pressure
- Poor diet
- Performance anxiety
- Lack of sleep
- Fast-paced and/or high stress lifestyle
Physical symptoms including: - Irritability
- Shaking or twitching
- Headaches
- Tense muscles and back pain
- Sweating
- Difficulty swallowing, dryness in the mouth
- Stomach cramps or tingling
- Quickened or irregular heart rate
- Dizziness
- Difficulty sleeping and nightmares
- Lower ability for concentration
- Diarrhea or frequent need to urinate
- Prolonged fatigue
